Reverse Aging Signs with Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing

No one wants to look older than they are. But when wrinkles and skin discolorations (age spots) appear, that’s exactly what happens. These telltale signs of aging can make you look – and feel – older than you are.

But there is a treatment that can reverse these signs of aging for as long as two years. And it doesn’t require surgery, major anesthesia or a hospital.

The treatment is called ‘Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing,’ and is offered by Richard Price, MD of Price Skin Care Clinic of Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing offers several benefits:
• Treatment takes less than an hour
• It’s customizable in terms of intensity and targeting of specific areas.
• And it’s performed in the comfort of your physician’s office without surgery and major anesthesia.

What Lies Beneath
How do wrinkles and skin discolorations appear? When you are young, your collagen cells create the cellular structure that keeps your skin from sagging and wrinkling, maintaining that youthful and supple-looking appearance.

But as you age, collagen production slows down and the skin begins to weaken and show signs of aging.

While doctors can’t replace the collagen cells that keep the skin youthful, they can use Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing to reach down below the surface of the skin to the lower layers where collagen cells still remain. The treatment stimulates these cells and makes them more active, which, in turn, makes you look younger.

Step 1: The Consult
Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment isn’t appropriate in every situation so you’ll need to schedule a consulting appointment with Dr. Price to see if the treatment will work for you.

During the initial consultation, Dr. Price will talk with you about the concerns you have with problem skin areas, conduct a physical examination, and let you know if Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing will work in your circumstance. Once deemed appropriate, a treatment appointment will be made.

Step 2: The Treatment
While sedation anesthesia is not required, in some cases, your Dr. Price may prescribe an oral sedative to keep you relaxed during the procedure.

Fractional C02 Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment consists of tiny pulses of energy that are sent into the skin in order to reach the collagen-producing level. The treatment may cause your skin to tighten, and you might feel a slightly sharp sensation. In order to reduce these sensations, Dr. Price will often apply a topical anesthetic or numbing cream to the area before the skin treatments begin.

Depending on the complexity of your customizable treatment, the session may range from 30 minutes up to an hour.

Step 3: The Recovery
After the laser treatment is finished, your skin may look red and swollen, and appear as though you have suffered a sunburn. You may also see some flesh colored dots on your skin. To soothe your irritated skin, Dr. Price will prescribe ointment, cool compresses and give you a specific skin care regimen as the skin begins to heal.

Step 4: Post-Treatment
Although post-treatment care can vary depending on how much of your skin’s surface received the treatments, you will have to stay out of the sun for several days, and may have to temporarily discontinue your regular skin care regimen. A topical ointment may also need to be applied on a regular basis.

As your skin heals, it will turn brown and the outer layers will begin to peel. Over the next week, you will see healthier, younger skin emerge from underneath the outer layers. Your skin will continue to improve for some time afterwards – in some cases, for up to two years after the treatment.

Most patients don’t return to work or life in the public eye until the skin begins to look more normal – which can take as long as a week. However, if you need to go out, you can use make up to hide the redness and peeling.
