HOW DOES IT WORK?

As you get older, your collagen production slows down. Collagen cells are an important part of your skin, as they create the cellular structure that keeps your skin from sagging and wrinkling. They also keep your skin looking young and supple, as well.

When conducted by a dermatologist or trained medical doctor, Fractional Laser Treatments reach down below the surface of your skin to the lower layers where your collagen cells are. They stimulate these cells and make them more active, which, in turn, makes you look younger.

There are many other skin issues that Fractional Laser Treatments can improve, including:

  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven pigmentation (age spots and sun spots)
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Loose, sagging skin
  • Superficial scars (acne and others)
  • Uneven skin texture

GENERAL PROCEDURE

Fractional CO2 Laser Treatments are a dermatology procedure that can be completed in around an hour, depending on the areas that are receiving the treatment. They are non-surgical, and you will be awake the entire time. A doctor or dermatologist will apply a numbing cream or topical anesthetic to your skin before the Laser Treatments begin. In some cases, an oral sedative is also given to keep you relaxed during the procedure; however, sedation anesthesia is not.

RECOVERY

Immediately after the Laser Treatments, your skin may look red and swollen, kind of like you have a bad sunburn. You may also see some flesh colored dots on your skin. In order to soothe your skin, you’ll receive ointment and cool compresses. You may also have to follow a specific skin care regimen as the healing process takes place.

As your skin heals, it will turn brown and the outer layers will begin to peel. Over the next week, you will see healthier, younger skin emerge from underneath the outer layers. Your skin will continue to improve for some time afterwards – in some cases, for up to two years after the treatment has been done!

How will I take care of my skin after treatment?

Although post-treatment care can vary depending on how much of your skin’s surface received the treatments, you will have to stay out of the sun for several days afterwards, and may have to temporarily discontinue your regular skin care regimen. A topical ointment may also need to be applied on a regular basis. However, you’ll be given specific instructions from Dr. Price on the day of your treatment.

How much does the treatment cost?

The cost of Fractional Laser Treatments depends largely on the areas of your skin that will be treated and the imperfections that you want to have corrected. If you’d like to know more, please call Dr. Price and schedule an appointment for a consultation!

Is Fractional Resurfacing right for me?

Fractional Resurfacing works on most skin types and can correct a number of different imperfections, from wrinkles to acne scars. In order to see if this skin care treatment is right for you, please schedule an appointment.

How long will my treatment take?

Depending on the extant of the treatments and the condition of your skin beforehand, they may take between 30 minutes and an hour.

What does the Laser Treatment feel like?

Laser Treatments consist of tiny pulses of energy that are sent into the skin in order to reach the collagen-producing level. Because of this, you may feel your skin begin to tighten, and you might feel a slightly sharp sensation. In order to reduce these sensations, dermatologists and doctors often apply a topical anesthetic or numbing cream to the area before the skin treatments begin.

Will I be able to go shopping/to work/run errands afterwards?

Immediately after the procedure, you’ll look like you have a mild sunburn. The areas that received the Laser Treatment will be slightly red and may be a little swollen. The outer layers of your skin will eventually peel, and younger skin will emerge. Because of this, most people don’t return to work for around a week after the treatment. However, you can use make up to hire the redness and peeling if you absolutely must.
